Guide information

Personal description
Visiting Bolivia in 1984, Guy fell in love with tropical forests. His studies of Horned Curassow in Amboró National Park and other Cracids in protected areas throughout the country in the '90s earnt him a position on IUCN's Cracid Specialist Committee and began a lifetime dedicated to birds and conservation.

He furthered his understanding of birds and tropical biology in his two years with "Van" Remsen in Louisiana State University and in the field with birding legend Ted Parker. Guy now lives in San Pedro, Misiones, and is Tucai Birding's principal guide.

He is active in local environmental programs, teaches English to future Park Guards and heads the local COA (Club de Observadores de Aves) - an Aves Argentinas-linked nationwide birdwatching network. The group recently received an equipment grant from the ABA BEX program..
Professional description
Guy leads tours and day trips in Misiones, Argentina - so he knows Iguazu National Park like the back of his hand - and, living in San Pedro, has found plenty of other, lesser-known places where the Misiones specialities hide away, including the upland Araucaria-dominated forests of the southeast of the province.

He likes to keep up with new, potentially interesting ecolodges and is always on the lookout for new localities and birding opportunities. This year (2013) he is leading his first bespoke 20-day "Bolivia - Altiplano and Yungas" trip and will be planning more Bolivia trips for 2014. More info on Misiones birding, photos, birdlists and localities, on his website www.tucaibirding.com.ar
