After breakfast at your hotel, our guide will pick you up from your hotel. It may around 8 am. Bago, once capital of the powerful Mon Kingdom. It is situated 80 kilometres ( 50 miles ) north-east of Yangon.
Drive 50 minutes from the Yangon, we will reach to the Htaukkyant War Cemetery. It is a calm, peaceful place and is beautifully tended by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. In there, 27000 Allied soldiers are buried.
Then we will continue to Bago. We will reach to Shwemawdaw Pagoda for the first point. Shwemawdaw Pagoda stands 374 feet tall. Shwemawdaw Pagoda devastated in 1930 earthquake. Then Prime Minister U Nu rebuilt its present height in 1950. After that reach to Hintagon Pagoda, it is once have been an island. Large enough for a pair of hinthas ( mythical birds ) to perch one on top of the other. Here you might be fresh by breeze passed from paddy fields.
Continue to Sawnanwai Pagoda snake. It is long 19 feet and came from eastern Myanmar. You can up to top of pagoda hill and take look around country sites. It is the ruin city walls. After that, we will reach to Kanbawzathadi Palace. King Bayinnaung made his capital at Bago from 1553-1599. There is also small site museum in the yard of Palace.
Now we will stop for lunch break at local restaurant.
We start again to Shwethalaung reclining Buddha image. Image is 56 metres long and resting on glass mosaic pillows. Then a little bit down to Mahazedi Pagoda. King Bayinnaung built this Mahazedi Pagoda in 1560. Then back to another Reclining Buddha image, it called Myathalaung. It is roofless Buddha Image. And we reach to Kyaikpun Lay Myat Nar Pagoda. It is 28 metres high built by King Dhammazedi.
On the way back to Yangon, we can stop at Shwe Pyi Resort for tea break.
