DAY TRIP TO THE ROCK HEWN CHURCH OF ADADI MARIAM AND THE STELEAS OF TIYA
This is about 9 hours trip to visit the rock hewn church of Adadi Mariam (13th Century AD) which is supposed to be carved out of a single piece of rock by King Lalibela who is most famous for carving 11 churches found in Northern Ethiopia at a small town named after him. This tour also includes visit of the steleas of Tiya (UNESCO World Heritage Site) which date back to 12th to 14th Century AD. This decorated steleas were erected in memories of famous warriors.
During this tour, visitors will have great views of part of the Great East African Rift Valley, and villages of the agricultural people of Oromo.
This is a wonderful day trip for people who wish to get out of daily city life and enjoy the real countryside life.
If the day is Sunday, visitors will be rewarded with additional visit of the weekly market of the Oromo people at Adadi town.
