Description
This is a day trip trip from Addis Ababa driving through the Great East African Rift Valley to visit the rock hewn church of Adadi Mariam (12th Century AD) which is supposed to be carved by King Lalibela. The trip also includes visits of the steales or oblisiks of Tiya which are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Ethiopia. These steales are rocks carved out of single pieces to indicate grave markers in 12 - 14th Century AD.
During this tour visitors will drive down the Rifts Valley and have an opportunity to visit the tribal people of Gurage who are famous for their cultivation of Enset or False Banana.
